Cuando means “when”, while mientras means “while.” Use them to connect actions and show when they happen.
Cuando llego a casa, ceno.
When I get home, I have dinner.
Escucho música mientras estudio.
I listen to music while I study.

Use cuando to introduce an action or moment that tells you when something happens.
Cuando termino de trabajar, vuelvo a casa.
When I finish work, I go home.
